Africa Fashion Week Maryland & Maryland Africa Fashion Week (AFWMMAFW)

Temitope Kayode is the Founder of the African Cultural Fashion Heritage Initiative, Inc., a proud 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to multicultural celebration, cultural preservation, and global fashion empowerment.

Under Temitope Kayode’s leadership, the organization presents Africa Fashion Week Maryland & Maryland Africa Fashion Week (AFWMMAFW)—more than a fashion event, it is a powerful cultural and artistic movement created to spotlight Maryland’s growing influence on global fashion style and innovation.

The mission of AFWMMAFW is to elevate fashion as culture, art, and economic opportunity on a global scale, while positioning Maryland as a rising international destination for creativity, tourism, and innovation. At its core, AFWMMAFW empowers designers, models, artisans, creatives, and entrepreneurs to grow, thrive, and achieve international success.

Through world-class runway productions, exhibitions, and immersive cultural showcases, AFWMMAFW provides a dynamic platform that connects talent to opportunity, visibility, and global markets.

Maryland is a state with undeniable fashion and cultural potential. Its communities are deeply passionate about style, culture, and self-expression. AFWMMAFW was created to harness that passion—transforming Maryland into a fashion-forward hub and a nationally recognized center for creativity, while driving economic growth across counties, throughout the State of Maryland, and extending its impact globally.

AFWMMAFW proudly serves as a bold international platform that builds a vital bridge between African and diaspora designers, artists, and the U.S. fashion market, while celebrating heritage, identity, excellence, and innovation.
